It was a beautiful day when we arrived in Tulbagh after a few hours' drive from Cape Town. With us having visited Tulbagh numerous times before we looked forward to being back. There is just something about a small town's atmosphere and the people that live there.
The staff was very friendly and checking in was as expected, a delight. After check-in, we were directed to the 'Loft' room that is situated in the road just behind the main hotel. The room was clean and well lit. We were met with some beautiful old style furniture and delightful big bath. The room offered all the essentials required for a few days stay. The loft is one of their cheaper options. The bed was comfortable and inviting; and after a long day of wine tasting, exploration and a hot bath there was not much time for reading.
We spent our days reacquainting ourselves with the many great wine estates in the area. We visited Saronsberg Cellars (Read blog here) and Drostdy-Hof Wines (Read blog here) as well as many more. We enjoyed picnics on the grass and lunch of the Tulbagh Hotel. There are few pubs and bars to enjoy in the evening so we found it best to visit them all and spend some time chatting with the locals.
We had a great time in Tulbagh and enjoyed the welcoming arms of the Cape Dutch Quarters. Will be stay there again? Yes we would love to enjoy one of their other luxury rooms.
By the main accommodation, there were facilities for a relaxing braai and a swim in the secluded pool. They only offer street parking for your car.
